MONTCLAIR, NJ — The YMCA of Montclair is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors. These accomplished individuals bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for strengthening the community.
“The YMCA of Montclair Board of Directors is fortunate to have leaders who contribute their diverse expertise and a shared commitment to our mission. Their unique strengths enable us to offer programs and services that positively impact our community and address its evolving needs,” said Marjorie Pierre-Merritt, Chief Volunteer Officer.
The Board of Directors of the YMCA of Montclair welcomes:
Joseph J. Barker is the Vice President, Head of Legal at Benchmark Education Company. Mr. Barker has extensive experience in the legal field, working for various companies such as Benchmark Education Company, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Bingham McCutchen LLP, and Balber Pickard Battistoni Maldonado & Van Der Tuin, PC. Mr. Barker also served as a judicial clerk in the United States District Court. Mr. Barker holds a J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law and a B.A. in History from Boston University. Mr. Barker is a Montclair resident.
Marques S. Johnson is the Head of Music Publishing Business Development (Americas) at YouTube New York. Mr. Johnson is focused on providing cross-functional leadership to solve difficult corporate/business and negotiate complex transactions to stay ahead of trends in the constantly changing digital media landscape. Former Senior Counsel at Google/YouTube, Mr. Johnson holds a J.D. from Howard University School of Law and a B.A. in International Studies from Willamette University. Mr. Johnson is a Montclair resident.

With the addition of these distinguished new board members, the organization is poised to continue its legacy of service and innovation.”
In addition to welcoming new board members, the YMCA of Montclair wants to thank departing board members Al Cristantiello and Michael Turgeon for their dedicated service to the YMCA of Montclair.
