THERE IS A Y IN EVERY FAMILY

MEMBERSHIP WAIVER AND CODE OF CONDUCT: All new members must sign a Membership Waiver and Code of Conduct before entering the YMCA of Montclair. We deeply appreciate your help in practicing all safety guidelines to protect each other’s health.

  1. PRE-REGISTRATION: Reservations are required for Aquatics and Group Exercise classes on our MotionVibe online program.
  2. BRING YOUR OWN: Please bring a water bottle, towel, and mat if needed.
  3. CLEAN YOUR EQUIPMENT: Please wipe down equipment before and after each use. Cleaning supplies are provided.

We follow guidance from the CDC, local health agencies, and public officials to update our policies, practices, and procedures to ensure the highest safety standards. Key measures include:

  • Limiting the number of people in our facilities and programs.
  • Installed AirPHX system.
  • Configured Space to Ensure Physical Distancing.
  • Increased Cleaning & Disinfecting Protocols.

Please note: The Department of Health recommends wearing a face mask whenever you have symptoms of COVID-19, tested positive, were recently exposed to someone with COVID-19, or live in a county with elevated or "high" COVID community levels.

Code of Conduct

The YMCA of Montclair is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all members and guests. The YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who fails to comply with safety protocols, policies, and procedures that are in place to protect the health and well-being of all.

To promote safety and comfort for all, all individuals are asked to join us in taking necessary precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

• If you have a fever or have symptoms of a contagious illness, please stay home until you are well.
• Wash hands frequently and use provided sanitizer before and after a workout.
• Wipe down equipment with provided disinfectant wipes before and after use. Place equipment in areas designated for equipment that needs additional sanitization.

At the YMCA of Montclair, creating a welcoming environment is a team effort. We ask everyone—staff, members, and guests—to follow our Code of Conduct, which is based on our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

• Speaking in respectful tones; refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language appropriately.
• Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest, and caring manner; never resorting to physical contact or threatening gestures.
• Respecting others by refraining from intimate behavior in public; abstaining from contact of a sexual nature.
• Respecting the property of others; never engaging in theft or destruction.
• Creating a caring environment; never carrying illegal firearms or devices.
• Participating in programs to build a healthy spirit, mind, and body; never engaging in the use, sale, dispensing, or possession of illegal drugs or narcotics or the unsanctioned use of alcohol on YMCA premises. Smoking and vaping are not permitted on YMCA property.
• Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct and regulations is essential.

Cooperation among staff, members, and guests is an important part of making our YMCA welcoming to all. Suspension or termination of membership or employment with the YMCA may result from violating this Code of Conduct. The YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been convicted of any crime.

Facility Access

Our facilities and programs are available to individuals with disabilities.

Facility Usage
  • All programs, activities and schedules are subject to change. Please check MotionVibe for the most current information.
  • Membership cards must be presented at every visit.
  • Cell phones may only be used in the lobby areas.
  • Photos: Permission must be granted from Y Administration prior to taking any photos or videos.
  • The Y is not responsible for personal items. Secure all items in a locked locker.
  • Proper athletic attire and footwear is required. Rubber sole and closed toe shoes only. For safety reasons, open toe shoes are not permitted.
  • Adult fitness classes are open to members 13 and older. Mature behavior must be exhibited at all times by teen members in order to participate in the adult classes.
  • For safety reasons, children may not accompany adults into workout areas.
  • Cardio rooms are for Y members 13 and older.
  • The weight room is for Y members 13 and older.
  • Youth Facility Usage
    • Youth members ages 12 and under must be under the supervision of an adult at all times while at the Y.
    • Youth members must be engaged in an activity. Wandering the building is not permitted.
Family Locker Room

Family locker rooms are for adult caregivers assisting children only.

Inclement Weather

In case of bad weather, up-to-date information will be provided on MotionVibe and our website regarding program/class cancellations, delayed openings, or facility closures. In the event that classes are canceled due to bad weather, make-up classes aren’t available.

Locker Rooms

Daily lockers are available for all members free of charge; please bring your own lock. Locks are available for purchase at the Park Street Branch Welcome Center. Should a lock be left on a daily locker overnight, it will be cut off.

Kit (Box) Size Lockers in the Men’s daily locker room area. Cost: $13/month.
Women’s Large Lockers in the Women’s permanent locker area. Cost: $25/month.

The YMCA of Montclair strongly recommends locking your belongings while you work out. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken belongings.


The YMCA of Montclair is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and wants to ensure everyone feels welcome and safe at our Y.

The YMCA of Montclair's policy regarding our Women's and Men's locker rooms is no one under 18 is permitted to use these spaces, and individuals are permitted to use restrooms and locker rooms corresponding to their identified gender or expression per New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination (LAD).

Single-use restrooms/showers are available for those who want additional privacy.

Attendance is important! In order to achieve the greatest benefit from additional fee classes, attendance at every class is highly recommended. Refunds and credits will not be issued due to absences.

Member Termination

Membership paid through E-Pay can be terminated at any time. Termination requests must be received in writing by the 8th of the month as to avoid being drafted on the 15th of that month.

Membership Cards
Membership Cards are issued to all members. Please present your card at the Front Desk for scanning at the Rapid Check In station. Members who have don’t have their ID will be asked to go to a separate station to be manually checked in. Access to the Y facilities may be denied if the membership card is not presented. For your convenience, apps are available to access your card on your smart phone.
  • Replacement Card Fee $5 per card
Membership Holds

Family, Adult, Young Adult and Senior members are able to put their memberships on hold for a maximum of six months during a 12-month period. The fee for a membership hold is $10 per month. There is no charge or time limit for a medical hold, however, we must have documentation from a doctor to support a medical hold.

E-Pay Members

  • All holds begin on the 15th of the month and end the 15th of the returning month.
  • The hold request must be received in writing or in person at the Park Street Branch Welcome Desk by the 8th of the month so as not to be drafted the full membership fee on the 15th of the month.
  • The $10 per month hold charge will be drafted on the 15th of each month that the membership remains on hold.

Annual Members

  • Holds must be taken in 1 month increments.
  • The $10 per month hold charge must be paid in full prior at the time the hold is requested.
Refund Policy

If it’s necessary for us to cancel a class due to lack of registration, we’ll issue a full program fee refund. A 75% program fee refund will be made if you give notice one week prior to the start of a program. No refunds are given once a program has started.

Registration

If you’re a current member and your email address is on file, you can register for classes online or in person. We can’t accept phone registrations. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis. All fees are non-refundable except as indicated under our refund policy.

If you’re a current member and your email address is not on file, please see a Member Services representative to verify your email address and to receive your temporary login and password prior to registering.
