The YMCA of Montclair and the Montclair Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs will host the 32nd annual Montclair Run on Sunday, June 1. The race includes a fun 2 mile walk/run and a 10K. Both races begin in front of the YMCA of Montclair, 25 Park Street in Montclair; the 2 mile walk/run starts at 8:30 am and the 10K at 9:30 am. Prizes are awarded after each event. In addition to the races, a moonwalk, refreshments and sport massages will be available.
Over 35 swimmers took to the pool at the YMCA of Montclair on April 11 to help other kids in their community. The swimmers, many of whom were from the Dolphins Swim Team, participated in the Swim for Kids swim challenge to raise money for the Y’s Annual Campaign. Swimming laps for pledges, the swimmers swam as many as 240 laps and raised $5,000. In addition to lap swimming, there were team events including T-shirt relays and tube relays. Kathleen Brown, Chair of the Swim for Kids event, said “This was a wonderful opportunity for kids to help other kids.”
All ages are encouraged to come and participate in activities designed to get families moving and having fun. Professionals from the Y of Montclair and leading health organizations will be on hand to offer advice, nutritional information and address your healthy living questions. Group fun, individual activities and information will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
