A Friendly Reminder On Pool Etiquette
For those members who use our pools, in order to have a clean and hygienic swimming experience, all swimmers must shower before entering the pool.
And one more item concerning privacy and protection. The use of any device capable of taking a photo or video (including cell phones) is prohibited in the showers, locker rooms, sauna, steam room, and pool area.
YMCA AQUATIC FACILITY RULES
General Rules (for everyone)
1. Proper swimsuit must be worn (basketball shorts and/or street clothes will not be permitted)
2. Members and guests must have a towel and dry off before exiting pool area.
3. Swim caps are required in Park Street YMCA pools.
4. Walk while on the pool deck or on the pool balcony.
5. Members and guests of all ages must change clothes in a locker room. We encourage storage of personal items in locker rooms (locks not provided)
6. Diving is NOT permitted at Geyer due to the maximum pool depth of 5 feet. All diving at Park Street must take place at the end wall of the deep end.
7. No horseplay (includes throwing children), flips, twists, or back dives.
8. No food, drinks or glass containers in pool or balcony areas (exception water in non-glass container).
9. No street shoes on deck (leave in hallway outside pool area).
10. Any member or guest may be required to take a swim assessment to swim in the deep end of the pool.
11. Equipment may be used by adult lap swimmers ages 18 and older and Y aquatic classes and programs.
12. Please shower before entering the pool.
13. Patrons are not permitted to use starting blocks.
14. No rafts, inflatable tubes or mono fins allowed.
15. Lifeguards will enforce and add rules as needed.
16. The Y is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of personal items.   Â
Adult Supervision (Family Swim)
1. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
2. Children who require assistance or a floatation device are considered non-swimmers and must have an adult with them in the water and remain in the shallow end at all times.
3. Children ages 5 and younger must have an adult within arm’s reach at all times and remain in the shallow end of the pool.
4. Children wearing a floatation device must remain in the shallow area. (Only coast guard approved floatation allowed).
5. Children who are not potty trained must wear a reusable swim diaper. (Regular diapers are not permitted in the pool).
