On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the YMCA of Montclair is holding Glow After Dark Family Edition, a healthy way for kids ages 6+ and their families to get their glow on. From 7:30-10pm, at the Y’s Park Street Branch (25 Park Street in Montclair) families can glow in the dark while doing their best Standing Climb, Downward Dog or Merengue. Tickets are $35 for community families (living in the same household) and $25 for individual adults. Tickets are free for those families who have the Y’s New Family Membership.
The event includes Glow In The Dark Family Cycling, Yoga & Zumba. It also includes dedicated glow fitness activities for children ages 6+.
After exercising, attendees can socialize over refreshments.
Suggested dress is white or neon to help attendees who want to get their glow on under the black lights. Upon arrival, participants will also receive free glow sticks and body paint to help them glow during their workouts.
“The start of the school year is often a busy time for family members that are revving up from a relaxing summer,” said Washima Redding, Senior Director of Health and Wellness for the YMCA of Montclair. “With this special family glow event, we wanted to give families a reason to spend quality time with one another, have fun, reconnect and most importantly exercise together while glowing in the dark! Glow isn’t just for families, everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to attend this unforgettable evening.”
The Y’s Joiner’s Fee will be waived for those that join the Y that evening.
Need babysitting? It will be free with admission. The Y’s Park Street Branch Nursery will offer children 6 months to age 3 a sensory lightshow; GLOW in the dark Paint and Play; and participation in a light up band with maracas and drums. And the Y’s Park Street Branch Meeting Room will offer children ages 4 through 6 GLOW in the dark – slime, ring toss, Jenga; splatter paint, hopscotch, and Ping Pong stations. Drop off starts at 7:15 pm and pick up must be by 10:15 pm. In addition, parents and guardians must stay in the Park Street building.
