A CULTURE OF RESPECT AND CARE
Our Asian neighbors are facing stigmatization, even violence, due to the coronavirus. The virus does not discriminate on the basis of race or national origin. Neither should we. The Y is FOR ALL. We are all in this together. Let's keep working together to ensure our YMCA community is safe and welcoming. For more information read Share Facts Not Fear.
Updated as of March 28, 2020
The YMCA of Montclair closed on March 13, 2020, to protect the communities we serve. Your health and well-being is our highest priority.
We will do everything we can to reopen our Y as soon as it is safe to do so. This is an extraordinarily challenging time, unlike anything we have experienced. While we need to maintain social distance today, our Y community is strong and connected. We will get through this together. And when we emerge from this challenging moment, we look forward to welcoming you and your families back through our doors.

I registered my child for Camp this summer? How is that being handled?
Families that registered for Camp received an email on March 25 that read:
Here at the YMCA of Montclair, we are thinking ahead to summertime with the sincere hope that we will be able to return to normal and welcome your family to camp as planned.
We want to be very sensitive to your family’s needs in these uncertain times, and so we are touching base with you regarding your camp fees. Normally, camp fees are paid in four monthly charges starting in April. However, in light of this crisis, we want to give you the option to continue paying for camp in four monthly payments (April-July) or condense payments into three monthly payments (May-July). April payments will be charged on Wednesday, April 8th; subsequent charges will be made on the first of the month. Please let us know which payment option you would prefer no later than Monday, April 6th by responding to this email. If we do not hear from you by then, we will proceed with the four-month payment plan.
Please note that should you choose to withdraw your child from camp, you must notify the YMCA of Montclair in writing 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the canceled camp session in order to receive a refund MINUS the $75 deposit. Any cancellation notification later than 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the canceled camp session will NOT be refunded. Should, for any reason, we find we must cancel our scheduled camp programs, you will be fully refunded. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact email@example.com.
We are preparing for another great camp season, and look forward to welcoming your child this summer. In the meantime, we hope that you and your family stay safe and healthy.
How can I help the Y?
Some of our members have volunteered to keep drafting their memberships each month as a way to help support the Y in this difficult time. We are so grateful for this demonstration of support and solidarity. If you are willing to donate your monthly membership during our closure, please contact Anneke at ADemarest@montclairymca.org. If you would like to give a donation to our Y to help us reopen our doors, please CLICK HERE.
How can I stay connected to the Y?
Staying connected matters. Our Y may be closed, but we have put together a resource library of free online exercise videos so you can stay active and healthy. We are working on curating family activities, wellness tips, and more. We may be practicing social distancing but it doesn't mean we have to be alone. This is a great time to pick up the phone and call your Y friends. Try Facetime and Skype. Send a text. Connect.
When do you expect to reopen?
We will do everything we can to reopen our branches as soon as it is safe to do so.
I saw sick people when I was at the Y. What do I do if I think I was exposed?
We urge you to follow all guidance from public health officials. If you have concerns about your health, the Department of Health has a coronavirus hotline you can call at 1-800-222-1222.
