A CULTURE OF RESPECT AND CARE
Our Asian neighbors are facing stigmatization, even violence, due to the coronavirus. The virus does not discriminate on the basis of race or national origin. Neither should we. The Y is FOR ALL. We are all in this together. Let's keep working together to ensure our YMCA community is safe and welcoming. For more information read Share Facts Not Fear.
Updated as of May 23, 2020
The YMCA of Montclair closed on March 13, 2020, to protect the communities we serve. Your health and well-being is our highest priority.
We will do everything we can to reopen our Y as soon as it is safe to do so. This is an extraordinarily challenging time, unlike anything we have experienced. While we need to maintain social distance today, our Y community is strong and connected. We will get through this together. And when we emerge from this challenging moment, we look forward to welcoming you and your families back through our doors.
CANCELLATION OF REGULAR CAMP SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT:
On Friday, May 22, the YMCA of Montclair announced the difficult decision to cancel our 12 regularly scheduled summer day camps. Based on the current requirements for emergency child care, we could not run our traditional camp season, held in many locations, and ensure the health and safety of our campers, and our staff. We are deeply saddened by this decision, one that was not made lightly, but we are confident that this is the right choice as we consider the health and safety risk factors still present in our community.
We are tentatively planning for a limited capacity camp for 4-10 year-olds at our Geyer Family and Park Street branches. There we would be able to manage camper/staff ratios, cleaning, and safety checks required by current emergency child care protocols. If the State of New Jersey decides that camp cannot be held this year, we will not offer any this summer. We hope to welcome back all our campers for a happy return in 2021.
Frequently Asked Questions
I registered my child for Camp this summer. How is that being handled?
On May 22, all currently registered camp families received a detailed letter regarding the cancellation of our 12 regular summer camps. Families will be contacted by phone to determine if they wish to either donate, refund or transfer their paid camp fees.
We are offering spaces at our tentative summer camp first to our current camp families who must confirm by Friday, May 29th. At that time any remaining spaces will be open to the public. For questions, please call 973-744-3400 Monday through Friday 10am - 3pm or email email@example.com.

I purchased a Personal Training package, will it expire?
All personal training packages will be extended an additional two months during this time from their original expiration date.
How can I help the Y?
Some of our members have volunteered to keep drafting their memberships each month as a way to help support the Y in this difficult time. We are so grateful for this demonstration of support and solidarity. If you are willing to donate your monthly membership during our closure, please contact Anneke at ADemarest@montclairymca.org. If you would like to give a donation to our Y to help us reopen our doors, please CLICK HERE.
How can I stay connected to the Y?
Staying connected matters. Our Y may be closed, but we have put together a resource library of free online exercise videos so you can stay active and healthy. We are working on curating family activities, wellness tips, and more. We may be practicing social distancing but it doesn't mean we have to be alone. This is a great time to pick up the phone and call your Y friends. Try Facetime and Skype. Send a text. Connect.
When do you expect to reopen?
We will reopen when our facility is ready, in compliance with all public health protocols, and when the State of New Jersey provides authorization.
